For nearly fifty years, the Center For A Non Violent Community’s emergency shelter has been the first safe haven for survivors fleeing domestic violence in Tuolumne County.
Our shelter is undergoing its first major renovation in nearly half a century. The most urgent priority is making the house fully accessible to survivors with disabilities. Right now, something as simple as a doorway that is too narrow or a bathroom that is not accessible could prevent a survivor from entering safety.
This renovation will cost approximately $250,000—and we cannot do it alone.
We are asking for your partnership to ensure that every survivor, regardless of physical ability, can find sanctuary when they need it most. Your gift will not only renovate bathrooms and entrances to meet ADA standards—it will also help us move toward our long-term goal of adding additional bedrooms. Too often, every bed is full, and staff must scramble to place survivors in hotels. No survivor should ever be turned away because there isn’t room.

Please help us support the right of all people to live free from violence. Your donations provide emergency and transitional housing, peer counseling, and support for children and adult survivors. So far in 2025, we were able to provide $208,000 in direct financial assistance to survivors in our community.
