The Center For A Non Violent Community has provided the Keeping Kids Safe (KKS) program to pre-school through third-grade students since 1997. The program utilizes puppet shows, songs, books, and guided discussions to help children learn the following: How to stay safe, identification of private body parts, the difference between a safe touch and a hurtful touch, and “Say No, Get Away, and Tell Someone” strategies for staying safe and getting help.
We may not be in classrooms as frequently this coming school year due health and safety guidelines in response to COVID-19. However, we wanted to make sure youth and families still had this important information. Therefore, many of the program components including the puppet show, story time, and song will be available on our Youtube page: CNVC Sonora.
Today, we debut the most recent video: The “It’s My Body/Es Mi Cuerpo” song to the tune of Baby Shark. Sing and dance along to help children in your life learn the safety steps.
Many thanks to our youth mentors and volunteers, as well as Tuolumne Resiliency Coalition funds that help sustain this program.
